What Is In Commercial Pet Food?
Best dry dog foods guide is intended to educate pet owners about the commercial pet foods on the market today, so with so many brands available no wonder people become confused which products to buy.
First, I think you should know the majority of brands consist of only the basic nutrients required by the Food and Drug Administration, but for all breeds this might not be providing the right portion of ingredients for all dogs.
Ingredient Portions In Most Brands
- 90% Dry Matter
- 10% Water
The Process of producing these commercial foods destroys toxins, but at the same time is also depleting the nutrients. These dry foods are your most inexpensive option and the lack of needing stored in a fridge is very convenient, but what is in your fur baby’s food which is not healthy for them?

My Own Personal Experience
I will not mention the brand I have been feeding my eight-year-old Rottweiler since he was just a puppy, but I will share it is one of the recommended brands on the market which claims to be an all natural product healthy for dogs.
My dog now is developing skin tumors which really makes me sad and disappointed in this food brand, I paid the high price with the notion my pet would live a healthier and longer life. That is not the case, so in my mind I wasted a lot of money and sacrificed to provide him with what I thought was one of the best brands on the market today. Even though it might be too late for him, I had added a new pup to my home and I want the best for him. So right now I am weening them both off their kibbles and adding home cooked dog food diets instead, I really believe my new pup has a better chance of a longer, healthier life by making him my own dog food and treats.

- Brussel Sprouts
- Brown Rice
- Mozzarella Cheese
- Cottage Cheese
- Egg Shells
- Peanut Butter
Vet Recommended Guide
This recipe guide I found from a holistic vet for a 20 pound dog, so you can easily increase or decrease according to your dogs weight.
- 1/4 Pound Protein
- 1 Cup Brown Rice or Sweet Potatoes
- 1 Cup Veggies
- 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
- Only Add A Few Herb Leaves Per Day or 1 Teaspoon Brewed Tea
This is the recipe I am using for both of my dogs with very good results, you will find it will take time for them to adjust to eating this recipe and giving up their love for their kibbles at first. I already have noticed positive changes in both of my dogs, so I do have confidence this diet is going to be healthier for my dogs than the commercial dog food I have been using for years.

What Is On My Mind Today
I take my dog’s health just as serious and maybe even more serious than my own health; I was amazed how many more foods my dogs can eat than I can with my strict food intolerance and allergy diet. Many of the foods I am forced to eat are also safe for my dogs, and I am even saving money. You can buy a lot more veggies and protein in place of the high price you pay for all natural pet foods, so I hope my article today has you at the least considering cooking for your dogs instead of feeding them kibbles.
